Light Work Walkthrough: How a Full Run Works

On this page

Is there a full Light Work walkthrough yet?

Not as of October 21, 2026. The Steam community guides hub for the game has no guides posted, and searches for a full run of this Steam game surface the unrelated Roblox game of the same name instead. Nothing on this page invents lamp locations or floor names to fill that gap.

What exists and can be verified is the structure of a run, from the store description and player reviews. That is what this hub collects. When a verified floor-by-floor route is published anywhere public, it will be linked here.

How a full run works

The store description frames the whole game as one last task. These are the steps it names, in order; the detailed rules behind each one are in how to play Light Work.

  1. You are returning home after a long day at the office; the workday is already over when control starts.
  2. On each floor, find and switch off every light source — the listing names desk lamps and light switches and says there are more kinds.
  3. Some lights are behind puzzles and physics-based interaction rather than a single switch; see Light Work puzzles.
  4. Watch your coworkers while you work. Unusual behaviour is the warning the listing tells you to look for.
  5. If a coworker starts to approach, return to the elevator and close the door.
  6. When the floor is dark, ride the elevator to the next floor. The building has more than five, each laid out differently.
  7. Once every floor is dark, the run ends in the game's closing sequence, covered without a route map in the Light Work ending.

Which lights have to be off?

The listing says "turn of desk lamps, light switches, and more" — desk lamps and light switches are the two kinds it names, and the "and more" means other light sources exist that it does not describe. Because each floor is laid out differently, where those lights sit changes from floor to floor.

No public source maps them. A per-floor lamp list would have to come from a full verified run, which does not exist yet. The puzzles page tracks the same gap for the puzzles that guard some of those lights.

What about the coworkers?

The store page gives one instruction: if coworkers start to approach you, return to the elevator and close the door. It also asks you to look out for unusual behaviour from them. It does not say what happens if one reaches you, and no verified source has described it.

One Steam reviewer wrote that fleeing feels like sprinting at half speed in a dream. If movement is really that slow, the practical reading of the retreat rule is to head for the elevator early rather than late.

What no walkthrough can tell you yet

These points have no public, verified answer as of October 21, 2026. Each will be added here when a source exists.

  • The exact number of floors — the listing says only "over 5 floors".
  • Per-floor lamp and switch locations, or any floor names.
  • Puzzle solutions, in whole or per floor.
  • What happens if a coworker reaches you.
  • Whether the ending changes based on anything you do.
  • A speedrun route — one reviewer called the game speedrunnable, but no route has been published.

Before your first run

  • Scan the whole floor before switching anything off, so you know where the lights are and which way the elevator is.
  • Glance at the coworkers between lights; the game asks you to notice their behaviour.
  • Keep a mouse and keyboard within reach if you play on a gamepad — Steam lists controller support as partial.
  • If first-person cameras make you queasy, take it slowly: a player asked on the Steam forum for a field-of-view slider because the default view gave them motion sickness.
  • Set aside about a quarter of an hour — of the 22 Steam reviews posted by October 21, 2026, most reviewers had 10 to 23 minutes of playtime.
  • Do not hunt for unlocks: Light Work has no achievements, and no update has shipped yet — see Light Work patch notes.
